Painting your walls is but one small way to make a big impact in your home. Not only does it set the tone for your room, let alone your home, painting a wall may even get you in a whole new “let’s get organized” mood. Luckily, we don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy organizational containers and specialty products to get your home together. All it takes may be a trip to the craft store of your local Home Depot or Lowes for some small things that are sure to make a huge, and clean, impact. Grab your energy drink or cup of coffee and let’s get to organizing. Start with the ideas below and some that we’ve shared on our Instagram!
1. Corral Appliances with Curtain Rods
Martha Stewart just made finding cutting boards, bowls and serving bowls easy. All you need to do to make use of taller pantry shelves is use curtain tension rods as dividers. Use the space in between to easily slide your boards, platters, plates and more in and out as you please.
2. Swap Knobs
Aside from changing your wall colors, one more change you can make in your kitchen or even your bathroom is to swap your knobs. Finish off your new paint job by upgrading your cabinets with some new knobs or styles of pulls.
3. Save Money with Shoe Boxes
Drawer organizers can cost a pretty penny. Now you can put those extra shoe boxes to work. Real Simple offers a solution that truly is really simple: you can make a completely customizable set with just scissors and shoe boxes. Simply cut the boxes in half by length or width, as needed for your space, then tuck into a drawer. No shoe boxes? Now you can treat yourself to a new pair or a few pairs and get organized!
4. Another Use for Your Curtain Rod
Give all of those bottles a place of their own under your sink. Instead of getting on your hands and knees and shuffling bottles around as you search for glass cleaner, oven cleaner, or even an empty spray bottle, add a tension rod right behind the doors, and hang your bottles on the rod for easy access. Talk about saving time.
